CO-ALAS's Latina Leadership Conference: Amplifying Latino Voices in Education

Dwight Jones, Founder and President of Education Partners, and Don Rangel, Executive Director of CO-ALAS, join together after the conference to celebrate the success of the Latina Leadership event.

This past weekend, Education Partners had the honor of participating in and supporting the Colorado Association of Latino/a Administrators (CO-ALAS) at their Latina Leadership Conference. CO-ALAS was recently recognized with the State Affiliate of the Year Award by The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS). This award is a representation of their commitment to promoting effective educational practices with Latino/ELL students and collaboration with local, state, and national educators to advance Latino/ELL student success.

Our team is thrilled to partner with CO-ALAS, a professional education association advocating for the continued development and placement of Latino/Latina administrators. The Latina Leadership Conference brought together Latinx educators from across the state to collaborate and connect. Bringing these strong voices together makes for events like this to have such a deep impact. Several of our incredible clients, including Rex K-12, Centegix, StrongMind, Benchmark, and Tutored by Teachers, joined us in Denver for this empowering event.

Don Rangel addresses attendees, expressing gratitude to the sponsors.

The conference featured Commissioner Susana Cordova, Colorado’s first Latina Education Commissioner, who took center stage as the keynote speaker. Commissioner Cordova generously shared reflections from her leadership experience, as well as insights from Women Leading Ed's playbook, "The Time is Now." She emphasized the importance of women in educational leadership, and specifically focused on raising up Latinx women. Her impactful words inspired the audience, stating, “You're busy doubting yourself while others are intimidated by your full potential.”

Being part of this conference and collaborating with CO-ALAS was a remarkable experience. We extend our warmest congratulations to CO-ALAS for their well-deserved State Affiliate of the Year Award and we applaud CO-ALAS's dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and excellence in education. Education Partners looks forward to further collaborations contributing to the advancement of Latinx leaders and our Colorado students.
