Celebrating Achievements and Connections at ALAS and CGCS Conferences
In the past couple of weeks, Education Partners has actively engaged with inspiring educational leaders at the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) 21st Anniversary National Education Summit and the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) 68th Annual Fall Conference. Both events provided wonderful opportunities to reconnect with friends and forge new connections with incredible leaders in the field.
At the ALAS conference held in Portland, we were thrilled to honor the significant achievements of Dr. Alex Marrero as he prepares to take on the role of President of ALAS. Education Partners and TouchMath hosted a cocktail reception in his honor, where we connected with many dedicated leaders focused on educational excellence. A special thank you to the ALAS team for orchestrating such a meaningful conference. We look forward to staying engaged with ALAS as they continue to champion Latino leadership in education.
Following the ALAS conference, Education Partners had the pleasure of attending the CGCS Fall Conference in Dallas, Texas, where we also hosted a cocktail reception, sponsored by Tutored by Teachers, to honor Dr. Marrero's accomplishments. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate his new role as president-elect of ALAS and connect with peers from various districts.
During the CGCS conference, our founder and president, Dwight Jones, moderated a panel discussion featuring superintendents from three districts as they explored a path forward as Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funding winds down. With over $190 billion provided to schools nationwide to address the challenges of COVID-19, ESSER funding has been critical in helping districts meet essential needs such as technology access, mental health support, and learning recovery. Panelists shared their strategies for sustaining momentum and ensuring ongoing progress for students. We want to give a special shoutout to the district leaders who participated, including Indianapolis Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Aleesia Johnson, Metro Nashville Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Adrienne Battle, and Denver Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero. Their insights provided valuable perspectives on navigating the challenges of educational recovery and maintaining equitable support for students.
Reflecting on these recent events, we are excited about our partnerships and our shared commitment to fostering leadership and innovation in education. Thank you to everyone who joined us at these conferences and contributed to the important conversations shaping the future of education.
Stay tuned for more updates from Education Partners as we continue our mission to support educators and empower students.
